Dear Friends of BMP’s Civil War Book Club,
We are about ready to reach the half way mark this year, and we still have some wonderful speakers coming and books to discuss for the second half of this year, so whether you have come before or are just now hearing about Belle Meade Plantation’s Civil War Book Club, it is never to late to join. For the month of June, we will be reading and discussing Mr. Rod Gragg’s wonderful book Covered with Glory: The 26th North Carolina Infantry at the Battle of Gettysburg. We hope to have Mr. Gragg join us over the phone for a telephone conference to discuss the book and answer questions.
Through the story of the spic Battle of Gettysburg, we see a wonderful narrative into the lives of the men of the 26th NC Regiment. A regiment which suffered the highest casualty rate of any unit in the battle. This is an excellent book to read for a more detailed look at the personal stories of this well-known battle.
We hope that you can join for a great discussion on June 22, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. inside the Belle Meade Mansion!
