May 25th-We will be working inside the lab to process artifacts that and digging at the pit. You will still “get dirty” so come dressed for mess. We will meet in the Gift Shop/Visitors Center.

If I have questions who can I contact?

Is there a dress Code?Yes. We ask that you dress appropriately for your task (example: no flip flops around horses). When working in the archeology pit, please wear casual clothes that can get dirty. At all other times, you should wear clean, neat shirts without inappropriate text, clean pants, shorts or skirts, and clean, comfortable shoes. All shorts and skirts must be finger tip length.
Where do I park?All exploring program participants can parking the main lot, just off of Leake Ave. All cars must be parked in a designated space and not on grass or along curbs. If overflow parking is needed the bus lot is Alia available.
Is there a place to buy lunch or snacks on the site?
Yes, the gift shop has drinks and snacks for sale. The site also has a restaurant that is open until 3:00pm daily. Their menu is posted online. You may also bring your own lunch.
What if I need to leave the program early, one day?
We will have a sign in/sign out sheet at each session. Simply sign out when you need to leave.
Do I need to RSVP for each program?Yes, we do ask that you email us at exploringpost@bellemeadeplantation.com to let us know that you will/will not attend each month. This will ensure that we have enough program supplies for everyone. Please RSVP one week prior to the program (by the Saturday before the program!)
Are their any fees or cost associated with the program?
No, only your initial application fee that is paid to the Exploring organization. No other fees are necessary.
What are Belle Meade Plantation’s hours of operation?
Monday through Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
Can I use my cell phone? Students may keep their cell phones with them while on-site. However, cell phones may only be used to call or text parents (or drivers). No other cell phone use (including texting) is allowed.
What about my personal property…can I bring things with me (purses, backpacks etc)? We do have a designated area where you may leave personal belongings, such as purses and bags. This area is secure; however we encourage you to leave unneeded personal items at home. Belle Meade Plantation does not assume responsibility for personal property left unattended. And, we advise you NOT to leave items visible in your parked car, for safety.
